"Fly Quiet" Committee Makes First Report Public

The federal Part 150 Noise Planning process, which was recently completed at Sea-Tac airport, calls for a “Fly Quiet” program, a set of “carrot-and-stick” incentives to strongly encourage the airlines operating out of the airport to abide by flight corridor profiles, run-up restrictions, and nighttime arrival/departure protocols.

Norton-Arnold & Company is facilitating the airport’s new “Fly Quiet” Committee. This group of representatives from throughout King County will work with airport staff to identify, analyze, and recommend the actions that should be implemented for the new Fly Quiet program. The group will work together between 2-5 years to identify new options, monitor their success, and refine/adjust as necessary.

The Fly Quiet Committee is under the Port of Seattle's "Communities Relations" public relations office.

The committee's first report was published in May as a large-size four-color publication, & was mailed to a limited number of interested parties with little fanfare. After some technical delays, the report was made available on the World Wide Web in recent days,.

RCAA is interested in your comments on the report. Please e-mail them to us at info@rcaanews.org.
