Larry Corvari, Normandy Park resident,
has been elected to another term as President of the Regional
Commission
on Airport Affairs. Mr Corvari is Chief Technical Officer
with a high-tech Seattle start-up firm.
Des Moines resident Allan M. Furney
was re-elected as Vice President - Technical. In
that capacity, Mr Furney is chair of the Technical Committee.
Another Des
Moines resident, Jim Bartlemay, was re-elected as Treasurer,
and will serve as chair of the Budget & Finance Committee.
Mr Bartlemay is a retired Boeing engineer. Mr Furney is
an engineer. Laura J. Anderson,
a Normandy Park attorney currently working with SPEAA,
will serve in the coming year both as a Vice President
and as Secretary.
Burien resident Phil Emerson was elected to a new term
as a Director. Mr Emerson, who is a public-school teacher,
had earlier resigned from the Board to run for a seat on
the Burien City Council..
Board member, and Past President,
Clark Dodge, a senior engineer with the State ferry system & Normandy
Park resident, will serve as chair of the publications
committee,
in succession to Mike Anderson.
Announcing the election and appointments,
Mr Corvari said, “We
have a solid and experienced leadership team in place,
ready for the final phase of the third-runway struggle.
The runway has been stopped for more than two years and
we aim to keep it stopped. In the year ahead, we will also
focus on another important task - making the Port
of Seattle fully accountable for all the damage from its
Airport operations. On a positive note, we intend to insist
that the region live up to its commitment to move forward
with a much-needed second major airport.”
