Third Runway Bid Opening
Delayed Again – To March 3
The date for opening bids for the next phase of third-runway work has been delayed again, according to a notice in the Daily Journal of Commerce. Contrary to statements on the Port's website, the bids for the work have NOT been opened & they are NOT being evaluated by Port staff. The Port now expects to open bids on Wednesday, March 3 (at 2 p.m.). (See also our previous story in Truth in Aviation, February 11, 2004.)

EIS for Updated Boeing Field Master Plan Issued;
Public Hearing Planned for April 5 at Airport

King County International Airport (Boeing Field) announced on February 23 that a draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) for the airport's update of its master plan has been issued, & that airport staff will hold a public hearing on the DEIS starting at
4:30 pm on Monday, April 5, at Room 110 of the Terminal (7277 Perimeter Rd. So., Seattle). ...more

Airport Wetlands Bill Misses Cut-off Date
SSB 6173, which would allow destruction of wetlands near airports as a supposed safety measure, did not get voted out of the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee on Friday, February 27. This bill appears to be dead, though the Committee chair Rep. Kelli Linville, has urged the various agencies & other interested parties to work out a mutually agreeable compromise. ...more
